Now a new GPS based toll tax system has also been implemented in India, in which toll will be collected through GNSS system. In this new toll system, toll will be calculated with the help of satellite and the more kilometers you travel, the more tax you will have to pay. In this new system, there is also a provision of toll free for some people and you can reduce or even eliminate your toll expenses through some tricks. So let’s know the rules of the new toll tax system…

Who will not be taxed?

Right now the GNSS based toll tax system has not been made mandatory. It is still in the initial phase and is being checked before it is fully implemented. As per the rules that have come out so far, let us know who will not have to pay the tax.

There will be no tax for 20 KM

According to the rules of the new tax system, whenever you travel on the highway, you will not have to pay any tax for the first 20 KM. When your 20 KM ride is completed, your tax will start counting from the 21st kilometer. If your house is on the side of the highway and you have to travel daily, then you will not be taxed for up to 20 KM. In the current system, if someone’s house is near the toll plaza, then they had to pay toll even for a journey of 5-10 kilometers, but now such people will not have to pay toll.

For example, when some people had to travel on the highway for work or business, they had to pay tax because of the toll plaza. But now, even after the toll plaza, they will not have to pay tax for 20 kilometers. In such a situation, there will be tax-free travel for people who travel on the highway daily.

It will be free for dignitaries

When the GNSS system is fully implemented, the toll-free facility for the dignitaries of the country may remain in force as before. According to the rules of NHAI, those who are currently given toll exemption may get exemption in future as well. However, there is no information about this in the notification issued by the government right now.

How can you save huge taxes?

In the new toll system, it will be difficult for those who are traveling for long distances to save toll tax. But, those who are driving for short distances on the highway will be able to save tax. In such a situation, you will have to see at which places on the highway you can use the service road or parallel road. You just have to calculate that the travel on the highway should be only up to 20 kilometers.

If you have to travel 25 kms, then try to complete 5 kms through other options and then travel 20 kms for free. You will not have to pay any tax for this. Along with this, you should also keep in mind that when your 20 kms limit will be renewed, you can reduce your tax by travelling on that basis. Earlier you had to pay the entire tax at the toll plaza, but now in the new system, you can reduce your tax with a little planning. Those who travel on short routes will benefit more from this.
