A case of ceasefire violation by Pakistan has come to light on the border in Akhnoor area of ​​Jammu. Due to which a BSF soldier posted on the border got injured. Pakistani soldiers fired on Indian posts without any provocation. In response to which BSF soldiers also retaliated.

According to the Border Security Force (BSF), Pakistani soldiers violated the ceasefire agreement on the border on Wednesday and opened unprovoked firing on Indian posts. The BSF also responded to their firing. But the number of casualties on the Pakistani side is not immediately known.

According to information received from the BSF, there was an incident of unprovoked firing from across the border in Akhnoor area at around 2.35 am, to which the BSF gave a befitting reply. A spokesperson of the Border Security Force said that a BSF jawan was injured in the Pakistani firing.

He said that after this incident, the soldiers are on high alert and are keeping a strict vigil on the international border and the Line of Control. Since India and Pakistan renewed the ceasefire agreement on February 25, 2021, ceasefire violations between the two countries have reduced significantly.

Last year, a BSF jawan was martyred in firing by Pakistan Rangers in the Ramgarh sector, the first loss of life on the Indian side in more than three years.

The recent ceasefire violations come just days ahead of the first phase of the three-phase assembly elections scheduled to be held on September 18. The second phase of the election will be held on September 25 followed by the third phase on October 1.
