US Navy installed new AIM-174B missile on ‘Murder Hornet’ fighter jet, enemies should get scared seeing its range and speed

For the first time, a picture of the missile system of the US Navy’s ‘Murder Hornet’ fighter jet has surfaced. Ten missiles are visible in this picture. The biggest missile seen among these is AIM-174B. This is a long range air-to-air missile. Its operational range is about 250 km. But it is being said that America has increased its range to 400 km.

This is the first missile in the US Navy’s fighter jets to have such a long range. A missile of this range will increase the strength of the US Navy and Air Force manifold. With the help of which it can give a befitting reply in a war with Iran, Russia, China or North Korea. Because both the range and speed of this missile are extremely dangerous. Colliding with it means inviting death.

Strengths of AIM-174B Missile

This missile weighing 860 kg is 21.5 feet long. Its diameter is 13.5 inches. The wingspan of the fins attached to it is 61.8 inches. A high-explosive blast fragmentation warhead weighing 64 kg is fitted on its nose. So that any target this missile hits in the air can be reduced to ashes. This missile runs on a solid fuel rocket motor. The speed of this missile makes it extremely lethal. It moves towards its target at a speed of 4288 km/hr.

Power of Murder Hornet Fighter Jet

The speed of F-18 Super Hornet is Mach 1.8 i.e. 2222.4 km/hr. Range is 3300 km. It can fly at a maximum of 50 thousand feet. Super Hornet goes up at a speed of 228 meters per second. 1 or 2 pilots can sit in F-18 Super Hornet. Its length is 60 feet. Wing span is 44 feet and weight is 14,552 kg.

Fighter jets are compared internationally with many such ratings. Of which BVR rating is the main one. Super Hornet has got a BVR rating of 83 percent out of 100. In terms of weapons, Hornet gets 7.9 marks out of 10. In technology, Hornet gets 8.9 marks out of 10. In avionics, Hornet has got 9 marks out of 10. In maneuverability, Super Hornet has been given 7.8 marks out of 10.

The Super Hornet is equipped with AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles. The Hornet is equipped with a 20 mm caliber M61A1 Vulcan cannon. This fighter jet can be equipped with US Navy 4 AIM-174B air to air missiles, four CATM 174B Standard ERAM, 3 CATM 120C AMRAAM, 2 CAT-9X Sidewinder, 1 TGP and 1 AN/ASG-34A(V)1 IRST21 Block 2 Pod weapons.
