On Thursday, LG of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha, from the platform of Panchayat Aaj Tak Jammu and Kashmir, listed the achievements of his tenure and also shared the blueprint of future plans. He also answered all the questions from infrastructure to connectivity and health facilities. On the question of unemployment, LG said that there is over employment in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that it has to be understood that employment does not mean only government jobs. There is over employment in government jobs here, due to which it has become ingrained in the mind that employment means government jobs.

Manoj Sinha said that the population of Jammu and Kashmir is 1 crore 35-1 crore 40 lakh and there are 4 lakh 80 thousand sanctioned posts in government jobs here. Giving the example of Bihar, he said that the population there is about 13 crore and there are 5 lakh 17 thousand in government jobs. He said this so that everyone can understand how much employment is there in government jobs here. Manoj Sinha said that apart from this, daily wages have also been imposed. People have been given jobs at three thousand, four thousand, two thousand and it has been said that we will confirm you after seven years.

He said that in the last four years, 42 thousand posts have been filled in various government departments and I am happy that not a single appointment has been questioned. Manoj Sinha said that the son of a handcart puller has become an officer today. A woman works on the footpath, her daughter has become an officer. He said that the time has gone when jobs were obtained by writing on slips. Those people have a pain in their stomach and I want this pain to increase further.

Manoj Sinha said that I know that everyone cannot be given a government job and we are running a program called Back to Village. He said that a nodal officer goes to the village and initially 10 now 15 youths are identified who can do their own work. Our focus is also on self-employment. Just a day before 26 January last year, we gave Rs 973 crore to 90 thousand youths for self-employment. People have been given benefits under PM Mudra and other schemes. Manoj Sinha said that Jammu and Kashmir, which has the least population in the country, is number one in PMGEP. UP is behind us. We have created a new department called Mission Youth and have given employment to seven and a half lakh youths. Eight lakh women are associated with self-help groups.

‘If we look at the trend of exports, it has doubled’

The LG of Jammu and Kashmir said that if we look at the trend of exports, it has doubled. A girl came to meet me from Kupwara five days ago. He said that she was saying that there is a leader in my village who says that he got the road or housing constructed. He said that no one in my village has a government job. The LG said that yesterday he came and told that 15 people have started their own work. The youth is dreaming. Our girls have a big share in the startup ecosystem.

He said that it was a felicitation ceremony for Dr Karan Singh. He said that he does not know what else happened but he has not seen such a clean Dal Lake in the last 30 years. Manoj Sinha said that there was no technical intervention in it. Now this will also be done. Regarding industrial incentives, he said that such incentives are not available in any state. The cheapest electricity is available in Jammu and Kashmir. Jammu and Kashmir is also better in crime statistics. There is an investment proposal of more than Rs 1.25 lakh crore due to which more than five lakh youth will get employment.

Land available for 75% of investment proposals

Manoj Sinha said that the capacity of cold storage has doubled. We have changed the laws related to land. There is land for 75 percent of the proposals and we are making efforts for the rest as well. On the problem of electricity, he said that last year we purchased electricity worth 93 thousand crores. Efforts are underway to meet the electricity needs.

Manoj Sinha said that four projects are underway. Solar power project will also be very beneficial. If we get electricity, we can provide it 24 hours. Electricity was provided by taking loan from the Government of India. This era of free services is over in the country. Many people in Jammu and Kashmir also accept it but those who are used to it are instigating it. After metering, we will be in a situation where we will start getting full electricity. If we start getting bills, then we will not hesitate in giving free electricity to the poor.

What did LG say on the question of Kashmiri Pandits’ displeasure?

On being asked about terrorist incidents and target killings, the LG said that terrorism in Kashmir was the biggest cause of concern for the country. Whatever terrorists there were, they have been sent to where they should have reached. He said that now business is going on, traffic is also going on, stone pelters have disappeared, those on whose orders all this used to happen have become anonymous.

LG said that as far as the anger of Kashmiri Pandits is concerned, if more than 85% do not say that the situation is better, then I will again say that I will leave. He said that we have been successful in establishing peace in Kashmir. The neighbour has a stomach ache, so he has sent terrorists to Jammu region. The forces have also taken their position now. We assure the people of Jammu and Kashmir and India that the Government of India believes in establishing peace, not in buying peace.
