A statement of Congress veteran and former Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde is in the news. In this, he is seen saying that when I was the Home Minister, I was advised to go to Kashmir. But I was afraid to do so. In fact, on the occasion of the release of a book by Rashid Kidwai, Sushil Shinde said, ‘When I was the Home Minister, someone advised me not to wander here and there, but go to Lal Chowk and give a speech there. Meet people. Visit Dal Lake. If you do this, people will feel that what a good Home Minister he is who goes to Kashmir without fear. This will bring popularity. But to be honest, I was f$% (objectionable word).’

Sushil Shinde said these things on the occasion of the release of a book written on him. Senior leaders like Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Digvijay Singh were present in this program.

BJP retaliated

BJP has now retaliated on this statement of the former Home Minister. BJP spokesperson Shahzad Poonawala said in a social media post, ‘Congress needs to pay attention to Shinde’s words. UPA era Home Minister Sushil Shinde admitted that he was afraid of going to Jammu and Kashmir. But today Rahul Gandhi can be seen comfortably doing Bharat Jodo Yatra and snow fighting in Kashmir. But National Conference and Congress want to take Jammu and Kashmir back to the days of terrorism.’

What did Mallikarjun Kharge say?

Praising Shinde during this program, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said, ‘We never ask for anything from anyone by claiming to be from the Scheduled Caste. Shinde presented 9 budgets for Maharashtra, whereas nowadays the budgets change in just one or two years.’ Kharge said that Shinde wanted to come into films but no one let him go near because he was an untouchable. During this, he praised the Constitution and said that through this people got a chance to become MPs and MLAs, otherwise they would have remained police constables or workers in mills.
