The Indian team had a stormy start in the match against Japan. In the second minute itself, Sukhjeet put pressure on the Japanese defenders and scored a field goal. A few seconds later, India scored another field goal when Abhishek put the ball in the Japanese goalpost. No other goals were scored in the first quarter. Then in the second quarter also, India had a great start when Sanjay scored a goal from a penalty corner, which was his first goal for India.
By halftime, India was ahead 3-0. The third quarter of the game went in Japan’s favour, in which they scored a goal. Then in the fourth quarter, India retaliated and scored two goals. First Uttam Singh scored a goal, then in the last minute of the game, Sukhjeet Singh once again managed to penetrate the Japanese goalpost.
India has left Pakistan behind in this matter
The Indian team is a strong contender to become the champion this time too. India won the title on home ground last year, making it the team to win the most number of titles (4) in the history of the tournament. India had surpassed Pakistan in this matter, which had won the title on three occasions. Apart from India-Pakistan, only Korea has won this tournament on one occasion. Korea won the title in the 2021 season.
