The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had announced the names of 67 candidates for the Haryana Assembly elections a day earlier. After the list of BJP candidates was released, the list of disgruntled leaders in the party is getting longer. Many leaders, including two MLAs, have resigned from the primary membership of the party so far, while many faces are showing signs of displeasure on social media. BJP is currently following the policy of wait and watch regarding the displeasure of its own people. If sources are to be believed, the party is going to remain in this mode for a day or two.

BJP sources say that the attitude of the angry leaders will be seen after waiting for one or two more days. The party is hopeful that many leaders will agree considering the big objective of returning to power for the third time. Local BJP and RSS leaders will be deployed to convince those leaders who will not agree or whose displeasure will persist even after one or two days. BJP sources are claiming that the displeasure of all the leaders has been removed and the party will contest the elections unitedly.

Ranjit Chautala left BJP

In the first list of BJP candidates, nine MLAs have been left without tickets. Leaders who were contenders for tickets on some seats are also angry at not getting tickets. Ranjit Chautala, a minister in the Saini government who won the election as an independent from Rania assembly seat in 2019, had already announced that whether he gets a ticket from BJP or not, he will contest the election from Rania only. Ranjit Chautala had resigned from the membership of the assembly a few months ago and joined the BJP. BJP had also made Ranjit a candidate in the Lok Sabha elections but he lost. Angry at not getting a ticket, Ranjit has left the BJP along with resigning from the Naib Saini cabinet. He has clearly said that he will contest the election from Rania only.

These leaders also resigned from BJP

MLA Laxman Napa from Ratia seat of Fatehabad has also resigned from the primary membership of BJP. BJP has cancelled Napa’s ticket and has fielded Sunita Duggal from Ratia. Another senior BJP leader Shamsher Gill has also announced to break ties with BJP. Shamsher was a contender for the ticket from Uklana seat. He announced to leave the party in protest against the wrong ticket allocation for Uklana seat and said that BJP is no longer a party of Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s principles.

There are also discussions about Babita and Yogeshwar’s displeasure

BJP has given ticket to Sunil Sangwan, son of former minister Satpal Sangwan, from Charkhi Dadri assembly seat. Babita Phogat was the party candidate from this seat last time. There are talks of former wrestler Babita Phogat’s displeasure over being out of the ticket race, while wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt is also giving similar indications through posts on social media. Yogeshwar Dutt was claiming ticket from Gohana seat but BJP has fielded Arvind Sharma.
