Amid the ongoing war in Ukraine, Oleksandr Komyshin, the minister overseeing domestic arms production, resigned in a government reorganisation on Tuesday. Justice Minister Denys Malyushka and Environment Minister Rustalan Strilets also stepped down. Following layoffs earlier this year, more than a third of the cabinet is now vacant.

President Volodymyr Zelensky and his political allies may be appointed to these posts. Zelensky is also going to America this month and before that he will try to reorganize the government. It is believed that Zelensky can present the Victory Plan to President Joe Biden.

Oleksandr Komyshin, who oversaw domestic arms production, held a key position in the government. Confirming his resignation, he wrote on the messaging app Telegram, “I will continue to work in the defense sector, but in a different role.”

Appointments will be made after layoffs!

David Arakhamia, a senior leader of Zelensky’s party, said that a major government reshuffle would take place this week, in which more than half of the ministers would be replaced. He had already said, “Tomorrow is a day of layoffs for us, but after that there will be appointments.” Under the leadership of Kamyshin, Ukraine has increased its arms production. Under his leadership, the country has produced everything from attack drones to long-range missiles on a large scale.

Missiles made to attack Russia

Kamyshin was appointed to the ministry responsible for arms production in March 2023 after his impressive work at the national railway. Under his leadership, Ukraine has produced thousands of long-range drones, which are being used to attack Russia. Last month, Zelensky said Kiev used a new “missile-drone” for the first time and also reported testing a new ballistic missile.
