So as the release date of ‘Emergency’ is getting closer, the controversy over the film is increasing.

The Delhi unit of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has also opened a front against Kangana’s ‘Emergency’. The president of the Delhi unit of the party had sent a notice to the censor board and Kangana’s production house regarding the film. The notice said that Kangana Ranaut is ‘notorious for anti-Sikh rhetoric’ and that she has ‘chosen the subject of emergency to target the Sikh community.’ Along with this, a demand was made to cancel the censor certificate of the film.

Kangana Ranaut said this

Now Kangana Ranaut has shared a new video and told that despite her film being cleared by the CBFC, the process of giving it a certificate has been stopped. The actress said in her video, ‘Many kinds of rumors are flying around that our film Emergency has got a censor certificate. This is not true. Actually our film was cleared but its certificate has been stopped because we and the censor people are getting a lot of threats to kill us.’

He further said, ‘So there is pressure on us not to show the murder of Mrs Gandhi. Do not show Bhindranwale either. Do not show the riots of Punjab. I do not know what to show and then the film suddenly goes black out. This is an unbelievable time for me and I feel sad to see the situation in the country right now.’

There is a ruckus about the film all around

After the trailer of Kangana Ranaut’s film ‘Emergency’ was released, there was a protest in Bathinda, Punjab. The protesters also burnt Kangana’s effigy. Recently, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has also sent a notice to the makers of the film and has demanded the government to ban it.

In the notice sent by the Delhi unit of Shiromani Akali Dal to the censor board, serious allegations were made against the film. According to the information, the notice said, ‘The trailer of the film shows incorrect historical facts, which not only portray the Sikh community in a wrong way but also promotes hatred and social malice. Such a portrayal is not only misleading but is also derogatory and harmful to the social fabric of Punjab and the entire country.’

In Telangana, an 18-member delegation of Telangana Sikh Society, led by former IPS officer Tejdeep Kaur, met government advisor Mohammad Ali Shabbir at the secretariat and demanded a ban on the screening of ‘Emergency’. The delegation also submitted a representation and expressed its deep concern over the portrayal of the Sikh community in the film. Shabbir said that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has assured the Sikh community leaders that the state government is taking legal advice and is considering banning Kangana Ranaut’s film ‘Emergency’.
