The Samyukta Kisan Morcha has reacted to the comments made by actress and BJP MP from Mandi Kangana Ranaut in an interview regarding the farmers’ movement and called it insulting and factually incorrect. SKM has said in a statement- It is extremely sad that this MP, who habitually insults farmers, has now crossed all limits by calling Indian farmers murderers, rapists, conspirators and anti-nationals.

The Samyukta Kisan Morcha said- It is not surprising that this MP is making such statements, as it has been the long-standing policy of the BJP to insult and defame the historic anti-corporate movement of farmers led by SKM on the borders of Delhi. Despite this insult and provocation, SKM has always ensured that the farmers’ protest against the anti-farmer laws and pro-corporate policies of the BJP-led central government remains peaceful and in accordance with the fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution.

The fight against corporate forces will continue: SKM

SKM said, ‘The most important achievement of the Kisan Andolan was its sanctity, for which 736 farmers sacrificed their lives. These include the five victims of the Lakhimpur Kheri massacre. All of them were crushed under the vehicles of Kangana Ranaut’s party leader and former Minister of State for Home Ajay Kumar Teni and his son. These included 4 farmers and a journalist. Teni’s son is facing trial on murder charges. Not a single person died in the violence during the Kisan Andolan around the national capital. The Kisan Andolan is a sequel to the great struggle of Indians against British rule and is still a struggle against government-protected corporate forces and policies.’

SKM has said that it would be better for Kangana Ranaut to try to understand the history and politics of the farmers’ movement in India before terming it anti-national. The United Kisan Morcha has demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi apologize to the farmers of India for the reprehensible and untrue comments made by his party MP regarding the farmers’ movement. The statement said, ‘Now the time has come for the Prime Minister to stand with the food providers of India and not allow his party members to misbehave with those who are providing food security to the country. This is not only the constitutional duty of the Prime Minister, but the people of India also expect nothing less from him.’

Kangana Ranaut should apologize unconditionally to the farmers: SKM

Also, SKM has advised BJP MP Kangana Ranaut to unconditionally apologize to the farmers of India for her inappropriate and wrong statements and maintain the dignity of her post. Samyukta Kisan Morcha has said that if Kangana does not do so, we will have no option but to call for a public boycott of her. Let us tell you that Mandi MP had said during an interview recently, ‘Anarchy like Bangladesh could have happened in India too in the name of farmers’ protest. External forces are planning to destroy us with the help of insiders. If our leadership had not shown foresight, foreign forces would have succeeded in their plan. Violence was being instigated in the name of farmers’ movement, rapes and murders were taking place there. We saw dead bodies hanging.’

BJP expressed disagreement with Kangana Ranaut’s statement

However, the BJP has distanced itself from Kangana Ranaut’s statement. In an official statement, the party said, ‘The statement made by Kangana Ranaut in the context of the farmers’ movement is not the opinion of the party. BJP disagrees with Kangana Ranaut’s statement. Kangana Ranaut is neither allowed nor authorized by the party to make statements on party policy issues. She has been directed by the party not to make any such statement in future. The Bharatiya Janata Party is committed to follow the principles of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas and social harmony.’

Kangana Ranaut and BJP should apologize to the farmers: Congress

Meanwhile, Congress has targeted BJP for Kangana’s statement. Party spokesperson Supriya Shrinet said in a press conference, ‘Yesterday Kangana Ranaut used abusive language against the farmers and called them murderers and rapists. Despite the martyrdom of more than 700 farmers, she described the peaceful protest as sponsored by China and America. Since there is an election in Haryana and BJP knows that they will lose, the party distanced itself from her statement. Kangana Ranaut has no right to sit in Parliament. She and BJP should apologize to the farmers. Is she saying that the BJP government is so weak that America and China are destabilizing India?’
