Bread analogy:

Material:

  • Bread
  • Oil
  • Mustard seeds
  • Curry leaf
  • Onion

  • Ginger paste
  • Tomato
  • Turmeric
  • Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder
  • Sugar
  • Salt
  • Capsicum
  • Water
  • Green coriander leaves

Method:

1. Take 6 slices of bread and toast them till they are golden and crispy. Cut the bread slices into small cubes and keep aside.

2. Heat oil in a pan. Add some mustard seeds and let them crackle. Also, add chopped onion, 1 green chilli and ½ tsp ginger garlic paste. Fry the onion till it turns golden brown.

3. Now add 2 chopped tomatoes, ½ teaspoon turmeric powder and 1 teaspoon Kashmiri red chili powder, salt and sugar. Fry till the tomatoes become soft. Mix everything well while stirring till the spices are cooked well.

4. Add 1 small finely chopped capsicum and fry for 2-3 minutes. Do not let the capsicum cook too much.

5. Now add 2 tablespoons of water and mix everything well.

6. Finally, add the bread pieces to the pan and mix very carefully so that no bread piece breaks.

6. Cover with a lid and let it cook for 2-3 minutes and your hot bread upma is ready.

Idli Upma:

Material:

  • Idly
  • Oil
  • Mustard seeds
  • Cumin
  • Chickpea lentil
  • urad dal
  • Groundnut
  • Asafoetida
  • Ginger
  • Curry leaf
  • Green chilly
  • Turmeric
  • Salt
  • Coriander leaves
  • Coconut

Method:

1. Break the idlis and keep them in a bowl.

2. Heat oil in a pan on medium flame. Add ½ teaspoon cumin seeds and ½ teaspoon mustard seeds, when they crackle, add 1 1/2 teaspoon chana dal and urad dal. Add 2 tablespoons peanuts and fry till golden brown.

3. Next, add 1 thinly sliced ​​onion, 5-7 curry leaves, 1-2 chopped green chilies, ½ tsp turmeric powder, and 1 pinch of asafoetida.

4. Finally add idli pieces, 2 to 4 tbsp grated coconut, fresh coriander leaves and salt to taste. Mix everything well and cook on low flame so that the idlis are cooked.

Moong Dal Upma:

Material:

  • Break the green moong dal

  • red chilli
  • Curry leaf
  • Onion
  • Salt
  • Green chilly
  • Oil
  • Coriander leaves
  • Coconut

Method:

1. Soak moong dal in water for 4-5 hours and wash it thoroughly.

2. Grind the dal and make a paste by adding some water. The dal paste should be smooth. Sprinkle salt to taste and mix well. Pour the moong dal mixture into an idli maker and steam for 15-20 minutes. After cooking, using a grater, cut the moong dal idli into thin pieces.

3. Heat some oil in another pan. Add ½ teaspoon mustard seeds and let them crackle. After this, add ½ inch finely chopped ginger, 2 dried red chilies and curry leaves. Fry everything till it becomes aromatic. Add 3-4 chopped onions and chopped green chilies.

4. Finally, add chopped lentils, green coriander and grated coconut.
