Congress leader Rahul Gandhi reached Prayagraj on Saturday and participated in the ‘Respect and Protection of the Constitution’ program. Addressing the people present at the program, Rahul Gandhi said that “90 percent” of the people are sitting outside the system and the country cannot run without their participation and for this the barrier of 50 percent reservation will be broken.

This statement of Rahul Gandhi on reservation and caste census shows that this is no longer an issue for him, but a mission of his life. BSP supremo Mayawati has targeted the Congress party on this statement of Rahul Gandhi. In a post written on the social media platform X, she said that if the Congress party was in power for so many years, then why did it not conduct caste census?

Mayawati’s sharp attack

Mayawati termed the Congress party as a double-faced party and said that it is the Congress party which never respected Baba Saheb, neither gave him Bharat Ratna while he was alive nor posthumously. Not only this, even after the death of Kanshi Ram ji, a day of state mourning was not observed. Mayawati has questioned the Congress that when the Congress party was in power for so many years, why did it not conduct caste census, whereas BSP has always been in favor of it.

On Congress’ silence on the Supreme Court’s decision, Mayawati said, ‘Not only this, Congress, SP and BJP etc. are also keeping silent against the ongoing conspiracy to make the reservation given to SC/ST ineffective and end it through classification and creamy layer under the Constitution. Be careful. Will it be in the interest of SC, ST and OBC classes to form an alliance with these anti-reservation parties like SP and Congress etc. in any election? This will not happen at all. In such a situation, they have to stand on their own, this is the advice.’

What did Rahul Gandhi say

Let us tell you that Rahul Gandhi, while demanding a nationwide “caste census” during the ‘Samvidhan Samman Sammelan’, said that I saw the list of former Miss India, but did not find any Dalit, tribal or OBC among the winners. He said, ‘Some people will talk about cricket or Bollywood. No one will show the cobbler or plumber. Even the top anchors in the media are not from 90 percent.’

The Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha also alleged that the BJP could say that he was trying to divide the country with his demand for caste census. “We want to know how many people in institutions, corporates, Bollywood, Miss India are from the 90 per cent. I am only saying that 90 per cent people do not have ‘participation’ and this should be stopped,” he said.
