Another shocking incident has come to light from Kolkata, in which a bike rider attacked the car of a famous Bengali actress. It is alleged that the bike rider broke the glass of actress Payal Mukherjee’s car by punching it and allegedly tried to attack her. The incident took place on Friday evening at Southern Avenue in South Kolkata. During the incident, the Bengali actress started live streaming on her Facebook profile and narrated the entire incident.
In the video, the actress can be seen crying bitterly and showing the broken glass of her car. During this, she was seen raising the question that where is the safety of women on the streets of Kolkata? She told that the bike rider asked me to open the window, but I did not open it. Then he punched the window and broke it. Glass pieces hit my entire body. During live streaming, many people tagged Kolkata Police on her post for help. On receiving information from social media, a team of Kolkata Police immediately reached the spot. At the same time, the policeman on duty near Jodhpur Park area caught the accused bike rider.
Let us tell you that apart from Bengali films, Payal has also worked in South films. Talking about some of her films, she has worked in films like The Sewage of Robin Hood, Girgit, Srirangapuram, Chol Kantul and Michael. Apart from this, she has also worked in the Hindi film ‘Woh Teen Din’ with Sanjay Mishra. She made her debut with the Tollywood film ‘Dekh Kamo Lage’ (2017).
What did the police say about the incident
A Kolkata Police source told Aaj Tak that when actress Payal Mukherjee was driving her car through Lake Avenue, the accused biker tried to stop the car as he claims that the car had hit him first. Payal Mukherjee allegedly did not stop, so the accused forcibly stopped the car near Jodhpur Park area. He got off the bike shouting in anger and broke the glass of the car by punching it. The accused is said to be a Junior Commissioned Officer at Command Hospital, Kolkata.
Police registered a case under these sections
Following the incident, the actress lodged a written complaint at the Tollygunge police station alleging that the accused rider M.I. Arasan (39), a junior commissioned officer at Kolkata’s Command Hospital, threatened her, broke her car’s window pane and abused her. Based on her complaint, the police have registered an FIR under Sections 126(1)/74/79/324(2)/351(1) BNS and have started investigating the case. The accused has been arrested.
Kolkata Police DCP (South) Priyabroto Roy told Aaj Tak, “In the evening, famous Bengali actress Payal Mukherjee was seen live-streaming the road traffic accident and hooliganism incident at Southern Avenue on social media. Immediately after the incident, on-duty police from Tollygunge police station, present near the spot, intervened, her safety was ensured and the accused person was arrested from the spot.”
