A few days ago, the central government provided Z+ security to Maharashtra’s veteran leader and NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar. Now Sharad Pawar’s reaction has come on this. Pawar has said that the Z Plus security given to him could be a way to get “authentic information” about him, as the Maharashtra assembly elections are near.

On being asked by the media about getting Z-plus security, Sharad Pawar said that he does not know the reason behind this step. However, he has definitely expressed doubt on the decision of the Center.

Sharad Pawar further said, ‘A Home Ministry official told me that the government has decided to give Z plus security to three persons and I was one of them. I asked who the other two were. I was told that they were RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.’

He quipped that perhaps since the elections are approaching, this could be a way to get authentic information (about me).

A team of armed personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) will be part of Pawar’s Z Plus security cover. Official sources had earlier said that a threat assessment was done by the central agencies and a strong security cover was recommended for Pawar.

What is the security of Z Plus category

According to the security blue book, every VVIP is given Z Plus category security. There is a tight security guard around them. According to information received from sources, 58 armed personnel are deployed for the security of Z Plus category. For the security of Z Plus category, there are 10 armed static guards, 6 PSOs round the clock at a time, 24 soldiers in 2 escorts round the clock, 5 watchers in two shifts. An inspector or sub-inspector is deployed as in-charge. 6 frisking and screening personnel are deployed for the people coming to the VIP’s house and along with this there are 6 drivers trained round the clock.

Pawar’s party is part of the opposition MVA

Let us tell you that Sharad Pawar’s NCP (SP) is part of the opposition block Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), which also includes Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) and Congress. In the recently held Lok Sabha elections, this alliance performed brilliantly by winning 30 out of 48 seats in the state.

The ruling Mahayuti alliance of BJP, Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar-led NCP had to be content with only 17 seats. Now elections for the 288-member Maharashtra Assembly are likely to be held in October-November.
