Sanjeev Kapoor himself revealed this. He told the whole story in an interview given to Siddharth Kannan. Sanjeev said that he has no enmity with Akshay. But he had just asked the makers for one rupee more than the fee given to the actor. Because Sanjeev believed that cooking is his field, he has a right in it.

Sanjeev said- Akshay is a dear friend, a wonderful person and a great professional artist. He told that when the makers told him that they want him to co-judge the show with Akshay, he told them about his condition for coming on the show. He said- Very good, I am very happy but I have only one condition. Whatever fee you are paying him, I will take 1 rupee more than that.

How did the return happen

Sanjeev told that the makers of MasterChef India were shocked by his demand and as a result he was removed. However, Akshay had judged the first two seasons of the show along with Kunal Kapoor and Ajay Chopra, after which the makers contacted Sanjeev for the third season. Sanjeev told- They decided to replace Akshay Kumar. Then I signed the show on my terms. I signed the show, and I also did a few seasons but that time was not right for that comeback.
