Answers to many questions in the suicide case of Saharanpur businessman Saurabh Babbar are still unresolved. Saurabh’s body was found on August 11, but his wife Mona could not be found even after 10 days. Whereas, both of them had jumped into the Ganga of Haridwar together. Saurabh had written in the suicide note that he was ending his life with his wife due to the burden of debt. Before his death, he had also sent his last selfie to an acquaintance. At present, after Saurabh’s death, creditors are worried about their money, which they had invested in Saurabh’s committee.
Actually, jeweler resident of Kishunpura of Saharanpur troubled by debtors Saurabh Babbar (35) committed suicide along with his wife Mona on the night of 9-10 August. He himself mentioned this in his suicide note. Although Saurabh’s body has been recovered, the body of his wife Mona is being searched. Police say that teams have been deployed to search for the body. The family members have not filed a complaint against anyone regarding the suicide. At the same time, the problem of creditors has also been heard.

Went to Haridwar by bike, then jumped into Ganga
The couple went to Haridwar, about 100 kilometers away from Saharanpur, by bike and then committed suicide by jumping into the Ganges from a bridge there. Before jumping into the Ganga, jeweler Saurabh Babbar had sent a suicide note, selfie and location to his family members. Before suicide, the couple had also called their family members.
Husband’s body found, wife still missing
Saurabh’s body was recovered from the banks of Ganga river on Monday (11 August), while his wife Mona Babbar could not be traced. Police and divers are searching for Mona from Haridwar to Roorkee. The couple has two children. The daughter is 11 years old while the son is 7 years old.

According to the information received, on the morning of August 11, Ranipur police of Haridwar district received information that the body of a youth was stuck in the swamp on the banks of Ganganahar. Police reached the spot and got the body taken out. The body was identified from the mobile phone and documents in the purse etc. After which information was given to Kishanpura Kotwali (Saharanpur Police).
Saurabh’s father’s statement
Darshanlal, father of deceased businessman Saurabh Babbar, said – We were not sure that Saurabh would ever do this. He gave us lifelong sorrow. Had he known about the loan, he would have talked to him and explained. These steps are not allowed to be taken, but he never mentioned it.
According to Darshanlal- Saurabh had gone to his in-laws’ house with his wife Mona and two children on Friday night (August 9), then left the children there and left for Haridwar with his wife. People came to know that he committed suicide by jumping into the Ganga in Haridwar. Had met him two days before this incident. He used to come home with his daughter-in-law, but never felt that he would take such a big step.
Saurabh used to run gold committee along with jewelery shop.
Saurabh lived away from his family after marriage. Saurabh had a jewelery shop in Kishunpura for 12 years. Investigation has revealed that 7 groups of Saurabh’s committee were running and there were about 200 members in each group, that is, about 1400 members used to submit committees to Saurabh.
Every person (committee member) used to deposit Rs 2000 per month with him. According to this, he used to get Rs 28 lakh every month. This committee was for 20 months, that is, every person used to give 40 thousand rupees to it for 20 months. Saurabh had given this money to a big jeweler so that he could make many gold jewelery for him in exchange for the money and he could give those jewelery to his respective winning members on the lucky draw.
This gold committee This was the rule. Members used to get gold/silver or jewelery in place of cash. The lucky draw was to be held on 10th August, but before that Saurabh committed suicide. It is being said that the son of the big jeweler to whom Saurabh had given the money fled to Dubai with the money. Due to which Saurabh did not get jewelery in exchange of cash. When he did not get any material, he was not able to reply to his committee members. At the same time, the members were putting pressure on him.
It is also being said that Saurabh had also invested a large part of this amount in the stock market. But he suffered a big loss in the stock market and became a debtor. At last, troubled by the debts and loss of money, he embraced death. At present, due to this step of Saurabh, the committee members are in trouble. Because, he had deposited his hard-earned money with Saurabh. He was expecting good returns. But now, forget the returns, even the principal amount has been ruined.
Pain expressed in suicide note
Expressing his pain in the suicide note, Saurabh Babbar wrote – ‘He is fed up of paying interest, now no more interest is being paid, hence he is committing suicide. Will send selfies from wherever they commit suicide. Before jumping into the river, Saurabh made the last call to his family members, the recording of which is viral.
