In the case of murder of a trainee doctor after rape in RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, the victim’s lawyer Vikas Ranjan Bhattacharya, in an exclusive conversation with Aaj Tak, has raised serious questions on the method of investigation of Kolkata Police. He said that our complaint was regarding the manner in which Kolkata Police was investigating this case. That is why this case has been transferred to CBI. Calcutta High Court has entrusted the investigation to CBI, now we are waiting to see what results the central agency will draw.
Advocate Vikas Ranjan Bhattacharya said, ‘First a call was made to the victim’s parents from the hospital that their daughter is ill. The parents asked that she was absolutely healthy, how did she fall ill. Then after half an hour it was told that you should come, your daughter has committed suicide. There is a hospital, there are many doctors there who could tell by looking at it that this is a rape and murder case. Still, the hospital administration tried to call it a suicide and the police also put a stamp on this theory. Such a serious matter should be investigated scientifically, but it did not happen.

How did police and CM decide whether the volunteer was guilty: Lawyer
The lawyer of the victim’s side said that Kolkata Police caught a civic volunteer and said that they have caught the culprit. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also gives a statement that we have caught the culprit. How did you decide that he was the culprit? That’s why we doubted the investigation by the hospital administration and the police. We want that this case should be investigated scientifically and whoever is found guilty should be given the harshest punishment. There will be justice for the victim and her family only when the culprit is punished for his actions.

An attempt was made to burn the victim’s body as soon as possible
Vikas Ranjan Bhattacharya said that initially an effort was made by the hospital administration and the police to burn the dead body as soon as possible. In such a case, the dead body is the biggest evidence. Student organizations stopped this from happening. Why was the body taken out for post-mortem? The opinion of the doctors who saw the post mortem report is that it is not possible for a single person to do this, there is definitely more than one person behind this. RG Kar hospital administration did not fulfill its responsibility properly in the matter. If our daughter dies in our house, isn’t it our responsibility? It is here that scope for doubt arises and that is why we demanded a CBI inquiry.

CBI should investigate properly and reach conclusions: Lawyer
When asked whether the victim’s family has faith in the CBI investigation, their lawyer Vikas Ranjan Bhattacharya said, ‘It has now been four-five days since the CBI took over the investigation. Have to trust. In the investigation so far, CBI has suspected that the murder did not take place at the place where the dead body was found. There is a suspicion that after killing at another place, the body was brought there and left there. If this is true then it is a very serious matter. We would like the CBI to investigate properly and reach conclusions. It is difficult to determine a timeframe in this type of investigation. My job was to bring the loopholes to the notice of the court, and I did that. Regarding the attack by miscreants on RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Mamata Banerjee had said that this was the work of ‘Left and Ram’. He had alleged that there was a conspiracy by the Left and BJP behind this attack.

TMC organized the attack on the hospital: Lawyer of the victim’s side
Commenting on this, the lawyer of the victim’s family, Vikas Ranjan Bhattacharya, said, ‘My direct allegation is that this was done by Mamata Banerjee. The Chief Minister gave a statement that day that the opposition and students had been protesting for three days, now I will take the field. The very next day after his statement, miscreants attacked RG Kar Medical College. TMC gathered goons and attacked the hospital. The motive behind this was to scare the agitating students and destroy the evidence. The miscreants had reached the third floor and vandalized the emergency. Could not reach the seminar hall on the fourth floor. I claim that this was TMC’s plan. Most of the people arrested by the police so far are TMC men. The image of Kolkata has been greatly damaged by this incident. This incident is being talked about all over the world.
