Uttarakhand: State agitators will get reservation in government jobs, Governor approves the bill

The bill giving 10 percent horizontal reservation in government jobs to state agitators in Uttarakhand has been approved by Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (Retd). Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the government can never forget the struggle and sacrifice of the state agitators and gives top priority to their welfare.

He said that the state government has decided to give 10 percent reservation in government jobs to the state agitators and all their dependents. The Chief Minister said that with the approval of the bill, the long standing demand of the state agitators has been fulfilled.

He said that along with increasing the pension of the state agitators, the government has also decided to give pension to their dependents after their death.

Posting on his social media platform X, CM Dhami said, ‘The Honorable Governor has approved the bill for 10% horizontal reservation in government jobs for Uttarakhand state agitators and their dependents. Heartfelt gratitude to the Honorable Governor! The state agitators have always been respectful to us, we are working with commitment to create the Uttarakhand of their dreams. With the passing of this bill, state agitators and their dependents will be able to get priority in government jobs. This bill will be implemented soon.

State agitators were agitating for this demand for a long time. Now after getting the bill approved, he has expressed his gratitude to the state government.
