Kannauj rape case: DNA sample taken of former block chief Nawab Singh Yadav

Former block chief Nawab Singh Yadav was arrested on charges of raping a minor girl in Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh. In this case, officials said that after the court’s order, the police took the DNA sample of Nawab Singh Yadav on Friday. The police along with the team of doctors had reached the district jail to collect samples.

According to the agency, Circle Officer (CO) of Kannauj Sadar Kamlesh Kumar said that during the hearing in the court on Friday, Nawab Singh Yadav agreed to give the DNA sample on the request of the judge. The CO said that after the consent of Nawab Singh Yadav, the police team along with the doctors went to the district jail located in Anaugi to collect samples. The sample has been sealed and sent to the forensic lab for testing.

Let us tell you that former block chief Nawab Singh Yadav, who runs a private educational institution and is a leader of Samajwadi Party, is accused of raping a minor on the pretext of getting her a job.

What did the Superintendent of Police tell about the incident?

SP Amit Kumar Anand said that the victim got the medical examination done with the consent of her parents, in which rape was confirmed. SP said that the girl has talked about rape in her statement before the magistrate. With the confirmation of rape, additional sections have been registered against the accused.

Political controversy has started after this case of rape of a minor came to light in Kannauj. The ruling BJP has alleged that Nawab Singh Yadav was once an aide of SP leader Dimple Yadav, when she was MP from Kannauj. However, SP has distanced itself from Nawab Singh Yadav after Nawab Singh was arrested on Monday.
