A serious case of hidden camera installed inside the women’s washroom in a big restaurant in Dehradun has come to light. A female advocate alleged that a camera was hidden in the washroom in which video recording was being done. Complainant advocate Khushboo Nigam told that she had gone for dinner at Anandam restaurant with 11 members of her family at 9 pm. When she went to the washroom of the restaurant, she saw that a camera was hidden in the false ceiling. He immediately informed the manager about this. During this, a picture of the hidden camera was taken as evidence.
The victim alleges that when she talked to the restaurant owner about this, he tried to suppress the matter and even said that he would hand over the cleaning staff to them. The restaurant owner also said that the CCTV cameras were not working, so it was difficult to find out who was coming and going in the washroom. Apart from this, the advocate said that the owner of the restaurant also accused us of not paying the bill. After this he also called 1090 and 112.
Hidden camera in women’s washroom
Restaurant owner Anand Gupta said that he is extremely embarrassed by this incident and will investigate against the staff. He told that he is a 72 year old senior citizen and had recently undergone angioplasty. He got information about the incident at around 10 pm. Somehow he reached the restaurant at 11:45 and learned about the matter.
Police arrested the accused
On this matter, SSP Dehradun said that the accused has been arrested. Accused Vinod Mandal told during interrogation that a month ago a rat had died in the washroom, he had put the mobile phone in it while using the hole for cleaning. According to the SSP, there was no camera device installed in the washroom but there was a mobile phone which belonged to a sanitation worker.
After coming to the notice of the matter, Women Commission Chairperson Kusum Kandwal inspected the spot and said that she has demanded strict action from the District Magistrate and the administration in this matter. Apart from this, he said that all the hotels and restaurants of the capital should be verified and it should be ensured that CCTV cameras are operational there and there is no lack of security in the women’s washrooms.
