Bangladeshi actress Rokeya Prachi has been attacked in Dhaka. The attack on the actress took place when she was holding a candle light protest at the historic residence of Bangabandhu, known as the Father of the Nation of Bangladesh, in Dhaka. She was holding a silent protest with candles at her residence when 30 to 40 people came there and attacked the protesters.
Speaking to Aaj Tak, Rokeya Prachi said, ‘They had come for me. They were asking to kill me. The incident happened late Wednesday evening. He said that I was a member of Awami League, that is why they attacked me. More than 100 leaders, workers and supporters of the previous government Awami League are hospitalized after the recent attacks.

Attack on Awami League workers
On Thursday morning, Awami League workers were beaten up at 32 Dhanmondi Road in Dhaka. He was going to the residence of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to pay homage to him. Let us tell you that mourning day is celebrated in Bangladesh on 15th August. On this day Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who is called the founder of Bangladesh, was assassinated. Since then this day was celebrated as a day of mourning in Bangladesh. But the interim government refused to accept it.
Tension spread in the capital Dhaka
Jamaat-e-Islami, BNP and several other student organizations warned that they would not allow any Awami League supporters to reach Bangabandhu’s residence. Those going in that direction were beaten up and are now admitted in the hospital. Many shops remained closed in Dhanmondi area after the incident. The city remained in the grip of tension in Dhaka after morning.
