Saharanpur jeweler Saurabh Babbar, burdened with debt, committed suicide by jumping into the river along with his wife Mona. Saurabh’s last rites have been performed, while his wife’s body has not been found even after three days. Everyone is shocked by the death of the couple. Meanwhile, it has come to light that Saurabh had run a scheme (committee) whose name was – Gold in every house. People know it by the name of Kitty Committee. Saurabh had formed 6-7 committee groups and each group had 200 members. Every member had to pay ₹2000 per month, but only 20 people got the lucky draw amount. The date of lucky draw of each group was different, the date of lucky draw of some group was 10th of the month and for some it was 25th. For this, every committee member was given a card. In this, the amount given was entered every month, it was also written about the lucky draw.
On the day of the lucky draw date of the group, all the members were called to a hotel located at Ghantaghar in Saharanpur and the lucky draw was held there. The lucky draw was for 20 months, those who won the lucky draw in the first 10 months were given gold or silver jewelery worth Rs 25,000 and from the 11th month to the 20th month, the lucky draw winners were given gold or silver jewelery worth Rs 40,000. Silver jewelery was given. And all the other members got gold/silver jewelery of their total deposited amount. No committee member was given any money, only gold or silver jewelery was given.
Saurabh went missing on the day of lucky draw, then news of death came
It is being told that the lucky draw of the committee was to open on 10th August 2024 also. Regarding this, all the members gathered and reached the hotel location given by Saurabh Babbar and started waiting for him. A lot of time passed but Saurabh did not reach. On this, the members called Saurabh several times but no response was received. The members who arrived for the lucky draw were only talking that till date it has never happened that Saurabh Babbar has not come on time, what happened today. At last everyone went to their homes from there. The next day (11 August) it was revealed that Saurabh along with his wife Mona had committed suicide by jumping into the Ganga in Haridwar. Knowing this, all the committee members were stunned.
At present, committee members are gathering outside Saurabh Babbar’s shop every day. If one goes, the other comes. Everyone is just hoping that maybe someone will return their gold/money or give some assurance. But Saurabh’s shop and house are locked. The committee member has only a card in his hands on which it is written Shri Sai Jewellers, Har Ghar Sona Scheme. The Gold Committee (Kitty Committee) of many members has been completed and all they had to do was take the gold. Saurabh had called all of them last Monday. But when they reached Saurabh’s shop, they were disappointed to see it locked.
In the Kitty Group of the Gold Committee which was run by Saurabh Babbar, a card was given to every member. In this, the amount given every month was entered in which the lucky draw of every month was also written. Along with this there were also some terms and conditions, Which are as follows –
* This scheme of Rs 2000 per month will run for 20 months, the draw will open on 25th of every month at 5 pm.
* Installment must be paid before the draw, otherwise the member’s token will not be included.
* The person whose lucky draw takes place will get jewelery (gold, silver, diamond, jewellery) as per the scheme and he will not have to pay further installments.
* If any member leaves the committee midway, then (3) installments will be deducted and jewelery will be given to him in the last month.
* The 10th winner will be given a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and the 20th winner will be given a cash prize of Rs 70,000.
* After the draw every month, 5 present gifts will also be withdrawn through tokens.
* The person whose lucky draw does not take place will also get jewelery worth Rs 40,000 in the 20th month.
* All respected members will be given Dharma Kante slip and confirmed bill, so that you can remain connected with us in future also.
* It will be mandatory to take a fixed bill because we cannot give any jewelery without a fixed bill.
* Money will not be refunded under any circumstances, only jewelery will be given, not Guinea.
What did all the committee members say?
On this issue, Gold Committee member named Shaista says that lucky draw was to be held on 10th, we went there, we waited for him (Saurabh) but he did not come. The lucky draw of our committee was held on the 10th of every month, in which gold worth Rs 40,000 was given. I had a committee of Rs 40 thousand and gold worth Rs 40 thousand was to be received. Used to pay ₹2000 per month. We have 23 cards, that means we deposited the amount so many times. Gold was supposed to be given on lucky draw but it did not come, later the news of suicide came to light.
Meanwhile, another committee member, Harpreet Singh Bhatia, said that Saurabh was a very good person. That’s why no one believed it when it came to light that he had committed suicide. Now see what will happen to the poor people and laborers whose hard-earned money was invested. Only the administration can do something in this. Around 5 to 6 crore people are stranded. The money was also lost and the gold/jewellery was also not found.
According to Gold Committee member Abda, our money is also deposited. Gold was to be taken on Monday. Golu bhaiya (Saurabh’s servant) knows everything. Had given money in front of him. Saurabh had called and said to come on 11th August and take gold (7 to 8 tola) to the shop. But then the call was not picked up. The news of death came the next day. However, we were not shown the face of the body. We don’t understand what to do.
