The victim’s father said that the ongoing protests across the country have boosted his courage. He said, ‘We have to have courage and also hope.’ On the question of death penalty for the accused, he said that we want that whoever tortured our girl should also get the same punishment. The sooner the punishment is given, the pain will be reduced for us.

He said, ‘No one can compensate for the loss we have suffered, be it CBI or anyone else. The whole country is fighting for my daughter, this is boosting our courage.

Talking about his daughter, he said, ‘Her whole day was just one work, she knew nothing except her book. He had also written in his diary that I want a gold medal in MD. We taught him with great difficulty. She also reached here after studying for 10 to 12 hours every day. Our dreams were shattered in one night.

Accused in judicial custody for 14 days

Police has arrested a person named Sanjay Roy for raping and murdering a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College, Kolkata. He has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days. Sanjay was working as a civic volunteer with the Disaster Management Group of Kolkata Police since 2019. The investigation of the case is now in the hands of CBI.
