The country is celebrating independence. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has hoisted the national flag from the ramparts of the Red Fort. After some time he will now address the nation. PM Modi has hoisted the flag from the Red Fort for the 11th consecutive time. Guard of honor and 21 gun salute was given at the ceremony. Flowers were also showered by helicopters of the Indian Air Force. This year’s theme is ‘Developed India @ 2047’. That is, it expresses the government’s vision for a developed India by 2047.
While addressing the nation, PM Modi first remembered the great men. PM said, today is that auspicious moment when we pay tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for the country’s freedom, those who struggled throughout their lives and those who climbed the gallows and raised slogans of Bharat Mata ki Jai. It is a day to remember virtue. We have been given the privilege of breathing freedom. We express our respect for great men.

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi also reached the Red Fort to participate in the country’s 78th Independence Day celebrations. Before this, PM Modi reached Rajghat in the morning and offered floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi.
