Flowers were also showered by helicopters of the Indian Air Force. This year’s theme is ‘Developed India @ 2047’. That is, it expresses the government’s vision for a developed India by 2047.

While addressing the nation, PM Modi first remembered the great men. PM said, today is that auspicious moment when we pay tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for the country’s freedom, those who struggled throughout their lives and those who climbed the gallows and raised slogans of Bharat Mata ki Jai. It is a day to remember virtue. We have been given the privilege of breathing freedom. We express our respect for great men.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, today is the day to pay tribute to the countless ‘freedom lovers’ who sacrificed their lives for the country. This country is indebted to him. PM Modi said, ‘This year and for the last few years, our concerns are increasing due to natural disasters. Many people have lost their family members and property in the natural disaster. The country has also suffered loss. Today I express my condolences. I assure all of them that this country stands with them in this hour of crisis.

About 6,000 special guests including beneficiaries of various government schemes have participated in this program. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi also reached the Red Fort to participate in the country’s 78th Independence Day celebrations. Before this, PM Modi reached Rajghat in the morning and offered floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi.
