Barrister Toorin Afroz, who was the chief prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal-Bangladesh, which had given death penalty to war crimes accused linked to Al-Badr, Jamaat-e-Islami and other fundamentalist organizations, was also targeted in the violence of August 5. Taking advantage of the worsening situation in Dhaka after Sheikh Hasina’s escape from Bangladesh, radicals entered the house of Toorin Afroz. They cut his hair and gave pencil wounds on his feet.
Turin Afroz shared his scary experience of that day in a conversation with Aaj Tak. According to Afroz, the fundamentalists asked her why don’t you wear hijab? Why didn’t you go to India with your mother Sheikh Hasina? Tureen Afroz told the fundamentalists – I will die and will not leave Bangladesh. However, she agreed with the fundamentalists about wearing the hijab because she did not want to anger them. Turin said that if I had not agreed with them, they could have done something, they would have killed me.

Let us tell you that during the liberation war of 1971, Turin Afroz had supervised the trial against many Razakars (who supported Pakistan in the liberation war). He has been attacked twice. Turin told Aaj Tak that she is a diabetic patient. His 16-year-old daughter was with him when the radicals entered their house. She said, ‘I was very scared. What would I have done as a mother if they had raped her? He told that most of the radicals who entered his house were between 18 and 25 years of age.

Turin said, ‘The fundamentalists were asking me why you didn’t go with Hasina? Why didn’t Modi call you? I told him that my mother also left, my father also left, he did not call me. I will not go anywhere, I will stay in this country. The fundamentalists said that you should go live on social media and say that it was your mistake to get the people associated with Al-Badr, Jamaat-e-Islami and other organizations convicted by the International Crimes Tribunal in war crimes cases. You had implicated those people on false charges at the behest of Haseena.
Fundamentalists cut Turin’s hair, injured his legs with a pencil
Barrister Afroz said while talking to Aaj Tak that I will not leave Bangladesh and go anywhere, I will stay here. this is my country. I studied abroad, but then came back to Bangladesh because I wanted to work for the people here. Tooreen Afroz was not allowed to leave the house till 7th August. Afroz also showed his hair which was cut by the fundamentalists. He also showed injury marks on his leg. The fundamentalists had tried to injure his feet by hammering a pencil into them, which left black marks.
