Actually, on the fourth Monday of Sawan in Bhagalpur, the crowd suddenly went out of control at SM College Ghat due to which the barricading done in Ganga broke and many devotees fell into deep water. After this many people started drowning in the Ganga.

The stampede situation continued on the banks of Ganga for about 30 minutes. Fortunately, SDRF team was deployed on the spot due to which no untoward incident occurred. SDRF personnel and more than 12 Aapda Mitra personnel immediately jumped into the Ganga and started saving the drowning people.

SDRF saved all the people from drowning. Regarding this incident, Disaster Mitr Amit Kumar said that due to the crowd becoming uncontrollable, people started drowning in deep water. However, more than 12 Aapda Mitra personnel played an important role in saving everyone on the spot.

Murlidhar Shah, an eyewitness to the incident, said that due to the crowd being out of control, a large number of devotees went into deep water and started drowning. Seeing people drowning, the soldiers jumped from the boat into the Ganges and pulled everyone out of the strong current. He said that the situation of fear continued for about 30 minutes.
