Jaipur: 2 Kanwadis died due to drowning in Galata Kund, deceased were cousins

Two Kavadis died due to drowning in the Galta Kund pilgrimage site on Sawan Monday in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The deceased were cousins ​​who had come to Galtaji with their friends to collect Kanwad and jumped into the pond for bathing. But due to the rise in water level due to heavy rains, both of them drowned. After this, Civil Defense personnel conducted a search operation in the pond; after hours, the bodies of both were taken out and kept in the hospital mortuary.

The incident took place at Galtaji Kund around 1 pm on Monday, when three friends had reached the pilgrimage site to collect Kanwar. During this time, seeing his fellow devotees taking bath on the stairs of Galtaji, he ran away and jumped straight into the Zenana Kund. Although, in the heavy rain, the people present there forbade them but still both the youth jumped. Then after some time both of them were seen drowning together, whom people could not save even if they wanted to.

SI Giriraj of Galtagate police station said that the deceased are 20-year-old Sonu Koli and 23-year-old Rahul Koli, residents of Sawai Madhopur, who were cousins. The bodies of both have been taken out of the water by the Civil Defense team and kept in the mortuary of Sawaiman Singh Hospital for post-mortem.
