The accused has been sent to 14-day police custody in the case of brutality against a lady doctor in RG Kar Medical College, Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. After arresting the accused under sections 64 (rape) and 103 (murder) of the Indian Justice Code, the police produced him in the Sealdah court. Police custody was demanded for his questioning.
The judge accepted the prosecution’s request and sent the accused to 14-day police custody till August 23. The body of the victim woman was found inside the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College in North Kolkata on Friday. According to the preliminary post-mortem report, she was sexually assaulted before her murder. He was treated brutally.
Police reached the suspected accused through Bluetooth earbuds
Police said that the arrested accused is from outside the institute. He used to easily visit most of the departments of the medical college. His activities are quite suspicious. He appears to be directly involved in the crime. Police had found a torn part of a Bluetooth earbud. Through this clue she was able to reach the accused. Many doctors have also identified the culprit from CCTV.
The accused is a civic volunteer, this is their work
It has been revealed by sources that the name of the accused is Sanjay Roy, who is a civic volunteer by profession. Such volunteers are contractual employees who assist policemen in their respective police units for traffic management. They assist the police during major festivals in the state and also at places where unauthorized parking of vehicles occurs. Such people work for the police.
Police team engaged in search of associates of the accused
A police officer said, “Now we are trying to find out who else was with the accused. Necessary medical examination can be done on him. In connection with the investigation into the death of the woman doctor, the police on Friday night arrested two Intern doctors were also interrogated. The deceased was a second year student of medicine and was on duty on Thursday night. There were many injury marks on her body.
Blood was flowing from private parts, the dead body was in such a condition.
According to the autopsy report, the victim was bleeding from both her eyes and mouth. There were injuries on the face and nails. Blood was also flowing from his private parts. He also had injuries on his stomach, left leg, neck, right hand and little finger and lips. The neck bone is also broken. There is a possibility of her being murdered after rape. This incident is said to have happened between 3 to 6 am on Friday morning.
Mamta Banerjee said- This is a personal loss for me
Reacting to this incident, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said, “This is like a personal loss for me.” Their (resident doctors) anger and demands are justified. I support it. The police have also accepted their demands. I was in Jhargram yesterday, but was keeping an eye on all the developments. I have spoken to the victim’s family. Appropriate action has been assured.
‘If necessary, the accused will be hanged’
The Chief Minister said, “I have directed to take this case to a fast-track court.” If necessary, the accused will be hanged, although I am not a supporter of death penalty. But they should get the harshest punishment. One accused has been arrested. We have ensured that not a single doctor protesting over this incident faces any problem.
