The accused has been sent to 14-day police custody in the case of brutality against a lady doctor in RG Kar Medical College, Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. After arresting the accused under sections 64 (rape) and 103 (murder) of the Indian Justice Code, the police produced him in the Sealdah court. Police custody was demanded for his questioning.

The judge accepted the prosecution’s request and sent the accused to 14-day police custody till August 23. The body of the victim woman was found inside the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College in North Kolkata on Friday. According to the preliminary post-mortem report, she was sexually assaulted before her murder. He was treated brutally.

It has been revealed by sources that the name of the accused is Sanjay Roy, who is a civic volunteer by profession. Such volunteers are contractual employees who assist policemen in their respective police units for traffic management. They assist the police during major festivals in the state and also at places where unauthorized parking of vehicles occurs. Such people work for the police.

Police team engaged in search of associates of the accused

A police officer said, “Now we are trying to find out who else was with the accused. Necessary medical examination can be done on him. In connection with the investigation into the death of the woman doctor, the police on Friday night arrested two Intern doctors were also interrogated. The deceased was a second year student of medicine and was on duty on Thursday night. There were many injury marks on her body.

But they should get the harshest punishment. One accused has been arrested. We have ensured that not a single doctor protesting over this incident faces any problem.
