India’s star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra won silver medal in Paris Olympics 2024. In the final match played on August 8, Neeraj threw a throw of 89.45 meters in his second attempt. Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan won the gold medal in the men’s javelin throw event. Arshad made an Olympic record by throwing 92.97 in the second attempt.
Now a big update has come out regarding Neeraj Chopra. Neeraj Chopra will undergo surgery to get rid of hernia problem. Due to this, he has had to suffer from pain in his groin area recently. Top three doctors can perform surgery on Neeraj. However, the final decision has to be taken by Neeraj only. Due to groin problem, Neeraj has played very few tournaments in recent times. Neeraj Chopra had also hinted about surgery after the final match. Chopra said after the final, ‘I will talk to my team and take a decision accordingly. I am pushing myself forward despite the current condition of my body. There is still a lot left in me and I have to keep myself fit for it.
There is going to be change in the coaching staff also
After winning the silver medal in the Paris Olympics, there is going to be a big change in the coaching staff of Neeraj Chopra. Neeraj Chopra’s current coach Klaus Bartonitz will no longer be with him. Klaus used to work with Neeraj for a few months in a year. Neeraj and his team are looking to upgrade their backroom staff. Klaus was working with Neeraj since 2018.
Neeraj Chopra won the gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics. That day was 7th August 2021. In the Tokyo Olympics, Neeraj Chopra had a throw of 87.58 meters to win the gold medal. But now Neeraj Golden could not achieve success in the Paris Olympics on 8th August. Neeraj was not seen in touch except for one throw. Neeraj definitely threw 89.45 meters, which was his best throw so far in the Olympics. Neeraj Chopra had made it to the final of the men’s javelin throw event of the Paris Olympic Games with a throw of 89.34 meters in his very first attempt at qualification. Whereas Kishore Jena had missed the qualification.

India has so far won 5 medals in Paris Olympics 2024. There are four bronze and one silver. First of all Manu Bhakar got bronze in 10 meter air pistol. Then Manu Bhakar also got the second bronze in the mixed team event. Sarabjot Singh was also in the team with him. Swapnil Kusale won the third bronze medal in men’s 50 meter rifle three position shooting. Then the hockey team won the bronze medal and Neeraj Chopra won the silver medal.
