The serial killer of Bareilly was finally caught by the police. The police had to work hard to find this murderer. The police launched ‘Operation Talaash’ to catch him. Not one or two, 22 separate teams were formed. 1500 CCTVs searched. 600 new CCTVs were also installed. In fact, women were being murdered continuously in Shahi and Shishgarh police station areas of Bareilly since July 1, 2023. The unknown serial killer used to target women between 45 and 55 years of age. Murder was committed by strangulation with the pallu of saree/chunni in a deserted area. In all the incidents of serial killing, the knot of saree or chunari was tied on the left side of the neck of the deceased. It was clear that there was only one person who carried out these murders following the same pattern.
The last murder took place on 2 July. After this the ruckus increased. Bareilly Police deployed 22 teams and conducted ‘Operation Talaash’. To arrest the serial killer, footage from 1500 CCTV cameras was searched. Police teams continuously increased patrolling in an area of about 25 kilometers.
During this time, the police also prepared and released a sketch of the suspect as per the information received during the interrogation. Within 48 hours serial killer Kuldeep was caught. He is a resident of Bakarganj of Nawabganj police station area of Bareilly.
During interrogation, it was revealed that murderer Kuldeep’s father Baburam had married another woman while his mother was alive. At the behest of his second wife, father Baburam used to beat Kuldeep’s mother. He also tortured Kuldeep and his sister. Later the mother and two sisters died.
Then, in 2014, Kuldeep got married. But due to Kuldeep’s cruel behaviour, his wife left him. In such a situation, getting frustrated with the family circumstances, Kuldeep started consuming cannabis, alcohol etc. and left the house and started living in the nearby forest/deserted area. While staying here, he started targeting women. He used to commit most of the crimes in the sugarcane fields, so that no one could see him due to the cover of the sugarcanes.
Police have recovered clothes, jewellery, Aadhaar cards etc. of four women who were killed in Shishgarh and Shahi area last year from serial killer Kuldeep. After a continuous investigation of about 5 months, Bareilly Police has arrested the serial killer of women. He is accused of 9 murders, currently he has confessed to the crime of 6 murders.
According to the police, Kuldeep used to hold women hostage in isolated places and demand sexual relations from them. When the victims protested, Kuldeep used to strangle them to death with their saree/dupatta. After the murder, he used to keep some thing of the deceased with him as a memento, like sickle, lipstick, bindi or Aadhaar card.
