One thousand Bangladeshi citizens tried to enter India, BSF stopped them at Jalpaiguri border

More than 1 thousand Bangladeshi Hindus have reached the India-Bangladesh border in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal. They want to cross the border and come to India. BSF has stopped their attempts to infiltrate into India. BSF has stopped them at Satkura border. This incident took place in South Berubari Panchayat of Jalpaiguri district.

On Wednesday afternoon, more than a thousand Bangladeshi people, mostly Hindus, tried to infiltrate into the Indian border. On receiving the information, BSF reached there and stopped the infiltration. According to local sources, the gathered Bangladeshis are eager to enter India.

Hindu Bangladeshis standing at the border allege that their houses and temples are being burnt. They want to take refuge in India. On the other hand, Indian people are suspicious of this crowd. They say that if Bangladeshis enter India, they will face food shortage. In such a situation, they do not want Bangladeshis to come to India. Even in the Indian border, a crowd of Indians has gathered on the border. However, BSF has tried to convince Bangladeshi Hindus. The crowd is still present at the border.

Hindu woman from Bangladesh narrated her ordeal

Recently a Hindu woman from Bangladesh narrated her ordeal. He told, I or any member of the house has not gone out for the last one week. The kitchen has run out of stuff. Boil rice with salt and eat it in the late afternoon so that one does not feel hungry at night. Then they keep guard at night. Men used to wake up earlier. Now we have also caught the innings. ‘And your children?’ My daughter is in your country. In Siliguri. She cries on the phone but we console her. Even if she becomes helpless, she will remain alive.

The political earthquake in Bangladesh has not only affected the Parliament, this fire is scorching even ordinary houses. Hindu minority is a soft target. Houses and shops are being burnt. Temples are being demolished. Mobs are attacking those settlements where there is Hindu population. According to reports, there are 27 such districts where minorities are facing all this. But the condition of women is worst.

BSF on high alert
Amid the ongoing crisis in Bangladesh and alleged attacks on minorities, there were fears that minorities, especially Hindus from the Bengal side of the Bangladesh border, would try to infiltrate into India. Such an attempt was made on 7 August, however the BSF foiled it in some parts of North Bengal.

On the afternoon of 7 August 2024, Bangladeshi citizens were seen gathering near the international border in two sectors. BSF personnel quickly took control of the situation by taking alert and proactive measures.

In one sector, BSF and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) pacified around 35 civilians who returned home. Everyone had gathered at the border. BSF has deployed additional forces on the border. In the second sector, a group of villagers from Bangladesh reached near the international border, after which there was a commotion for some time. BSF personnel immediately contacted the group and took control of the situation. The villagers returned to their homes. BSF is currently on high alert.
