Congress leader Salman Khurshid said on Tuesday that what is happening in Bangladesh can also happen in India. Although everything may seem normal. Former Union Minister Khurshid was speaking at the launch of educationist Mujibur Rehman’s book ‘Shikwa-e-Hind: The Political Future of Indian Muslims’.

He said, “Everything may look normal in Kashmir. Everything may look normal here. We may be celebrating the victory, although of course some people believe that that victory or the success of 2024 was probably marginal. “Maybe a lot still needs to be done.”

According to news agency PTI, the former Foreign Minister said, “What is happening in Bangladesh can happen here also.” “Its spread in our country prevents things from spreading the way it has in Bangladesh.”

Sheikh Hasina was forced to leave Bangladesh

Bangladesh was shaken by a wave of violent anti-government protests in July, after which Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had to resign and was forced to flee her country. Currently she is in India and is preparing to take refuge in another country.

RJD MP Manoj Jha spoke on Shaheen Bagh

In this program, RJD Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Jha talked about the Shaheen Bagh movement against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and said that it has not been given due credit. Jha said, “The success of Shaheen Bagh should not be measured on the scale of the grandeur of its achievements. Remember what the Shaheen Bagh protests were about…when Parliament lost, the streets came alive.”

What did Salman Khurshid say on Shaheen Bagh?

The women-led protests against CAA in South-East Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh continued for nearly 100 days and inspired similar protests across the country. Manoj Jha feels that the Shaheen Bagh movement was successful, while Salman Khurshid is of the view that the movement failed because many people who were part of the protests are still in jail. Khurshid also said that today there cannot be another movement like Shaheen Bagh in the country.

The Congress leader said, “Would you feel bad if I said that Shaheen Bagh failed? Many of us believe that Shaheen Bagh was successful, but I know what is happening to the people associated with Shaheen Bagh. How many of them are still in jail? How many of them may not get bail? How many of them are being said to be enemies of this country?”

He said, “If I ask myself tomorrow will Shaheen Bagh happen again and I am not sure it will because people have really suffered.”

Owaisi asked- If there was a government of opposition parties then…

In this program, AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi regretted the low representation of Muslims in the assemblies and Parliament and also questioned whether the situation would have changed for Muslims if the opposition had been in power. He said, “The reality is that Muslims have never voted for any right-wing candidate or the BJP. If there was a non-BJP government now, would things have changed? No.”

Talking about the rise of the Hindu right, Owaisi said, “Hitler did not invent anti-Jewish sentiments. It already existed. There were underground sentiments in our society too.”

He said, “We call Atal Bihari Vajpayee a liberal. The real thing is that Vajpayee and Advani were creating an atmosphere for the arrival of this gentleman.

Tharoor said – there were people of all religions in the protest

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said that he was among the first MPs to meet the protesters at Shaheen Bagh and that they were not just Muslims, but people of all religions. He said, “I myself have been to seven protests across the country. There were people of all religions in the protests.”
