Know why violence broke out

Violence had erupted several times in Bangladesh over the issue of reservation. The protesters demanded that the quota system reserving 30 percent government jobs for the families of 1971 freedom fighters be abolished. Earlier, when violence broke out, the court had reduced the quota limit. But the violence did not stop and now the protesters are demanding the resignation of Sheikh Hasina. More than 11,000 people have been arrested so far. Officials claimed that protesters attacked police stations, ruling party offices and residences of their leaders and burnt several vehicles. The government ordered the closure of meta platforms Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram. Earlier in July also there was violence during student protest. At that time, a policeman from Munshiganj district of Dhaka, while talking to the media, had said that the entire city had turned into a battlefield.
