After the coup in Bangladesh and the resignation of Sheikh Hasine, there is an atmosphere of violence in different areas of the country. There have been reports of vandalism at some places and arson at some places. The house of former Bangladeshi cricket team captain Masrafe Mortaza was set on fire by the protesters. The protesters set fire to the main house of Mashrafe Murtaza in Narail.

The protesters have expressed their anger at ruling Awami League Party MP Murtaza for his silence on the alleged ‘genocide and mass arrest of students’ in Bangladesh. In the visuals that emerged after the incident, his house was seen being vandalized and set on fire by the protesters.

Mortaza captained Bangladesh in 117 matches in different formats, which is the highest for his country. During his long cricket career, he made an impressive 390 appearances in 36 Tests, 220 ODIs and 54 T20 matches and scored 2,955 runs. After retirement, he started his political innings in 2018 and joined Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League. He won as MP from Narail-2 constituency.

Looting in Chief Justice’s house

The house of the Chief Justice of Bangladesh was looted by protesters in Dhaka. The police system of Bangladesh has completely collapsed, there is no police on the streets. Even the Bangladesh border guard soldiers have been withdrawn and are not on duty. Only army personnel are deployed on the roads of Bangladesh, but their numbers are less.

Demolition and arson in Bangabandhu Bhawan

‘Bangabandhu Bhawan’, the official residence of Bangladesh’s founder Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was vandalized and set on fire. It is a historical building located in Dhanmondi, Dhaka, which was used by Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as his private residence.

In fact, in August 1975, Sheikh Mujib was murdered in this house along with his family members. During this time his daughter Sheikh Hasina was saved because she was abroad during this incident. This building is a national heritage site and has been converted into the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum.
