Attempt to rob IRS officer’s house in Vasant Kunj, Delhi, thief caught through CCTV

An unsuccessful attempt was made to break into the house of a retired IRS officer and loot it in Vasant Kunj, a posh area of ​​South West Delhi. The family members tried to control the robber, but he managed to escape by jumping over the wall. He also attacked retired IRS officer Abhay Singh with a knife, injuring him. He was taken to the hospital by family members, where after first aid he was sent back home.

With the help of CCTV footage, Delhi Police has caught the accused and one of his associates who had come to commit the robbery. The main accused has been identified as Jitendra alias Jeete, who is a resident of Meerut. He came to Delhi from Meerut and entered the house of a retired IRS officer in Vasant Kunj with the intention of looting. South West Delhi DCP Rohit Meena said that on July 3 at 1.15 am, a PCR call was received from South Vasant Kunj police station area, in which the police was informed about the incident of robbery and stabbing. Police reached the spot as soon as information about the incident was received, but the miscreant had fled by then.

Giving information about this incident, the police said – Retired IRS officer Abhay Singh and his wife Anupama were sleeping in the bedroom. His son and servant were in the other room. Around 1 o’clock in the night there was a loud noise in the balcony, due to which Abhay Singh woke up from sleep. Police further said that Abhay Singh saw that a man was trying to enter his bedroom through the sliding door. Seeing that, Abhay Singh started shouting, waking up his wife. Then the miscreant injured Abhay and his wife Anupama with a knife.

The family members along with the servant locked the thief in the room but he escaped through the balcony. The police team immediately swung into action, the forensic team collected important clues from the spot and a case was registered. Six teams were formed to catch the accused. On the basis of clues found from the house and CCTV footage, the accused Jitendra alias Jeete was caught by the team of Special Staff South West District within 12 hours. He was a clever thief who was recently living in Meerut.
