A 72-year-old man, retired as a mechanic from MTNL, was murdered on Saturday morning in Delhi’s New Ashok Nagar. Two attackers entered the victim’s house and murdered him with a knife. On receiving information about this incident, the police reached the spot and took the body into their custody. The police have sent the body to the hospital for post-mortem. This matter is being investigated.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Apoorva Gupta said that a PCR call was received in New Ashok Nagar. It was told that someone had murdered the caller’s father. On this information, the local police reached the spot at house number C-2/33 in New Ashok Nagar. In the house, a man named Gautam Thakur was found dead on the bed in his room on the first floor. He was stabbed in the stomach.
He told that the PCR call was made by Gautam Thakur’s elder son Mukesh Thakur. Crime team was called on the spot. The team inspected the spot and took photographs. Gautam, who retired from MTNL in 2012, was living on the first floor of this house with his two sons and their families. In this matter, based on the complaint of family members, a case has been registered against unknown person.
Police said that during investigation it was found that all the family members were present in the house at the time of the incident. Gautam Thakur’s son has revealed that he saw two people leaving the house immediately after the incident, but this is yet to be confirmed. CCTV cameras of the area are being scanned to identify the accused. At present nothing suspicious has been found. The investigation into this matter is ongoing.

After the attack, both the women were taken to the hospital, where the elderly woman died during treatment.
