Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah remains in controversies. It is alleged that his wife was scammed in allotment of plot in exchange of land. This entire dispute is related to three acres of land. However, Siddaramaiah claims that the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) had illegally acquired the land from him.

Siddaramaiah’s wife Parvati owned three acres and 16 guntas of land in Kesaru village of Mysore district. This land was gifted to her by Parvati’s brother Mallikarjuna. This land was acquired by MUDA and in exchange of this land, Parvati was given a total plot of 38,283 square feet in Vijayanagar area in 2021. These plots are in a prime area of South Mysore. It is alleged that the market value of the plot in Vijayanagar is much higher than their original land in Kesaru, due to which BJP has alleged a scam. This land was allotted to Parvati during the previous BJP rule.

India Today’s investigation has revealed that this land does not belong to Devaraju but to Manjunath. Ninga, son of Jawara, the owner of this land in Kesaru village, has three sons, Mallaiya, Mailaraiya and J. Devaraju.

Revenue records show that on October 29, 1968, Ninga’s elder son Malaiya and his third son J. Devaraju had given up his rights on three acres and 16 guntas of this land in Kesaru village. Both brothers had given up their rights on this land from Ninga’s third son Mailaraiya for just Rs 300. In this way Mailaraiya is the sole owner of this land.

After the death of Mailaraiya, his children Manjunath and Jamuna became the legal heirs of the land. However, after a few years, Devaraju, on some pretext, got Manjunatha Swamy and his wife Puttagovaramma to sign on blank papers. Manjunath Swamy alleged that Devaraju cheated him and got the IHR (Inam Holder Register) registered in his name.

Manjunath Swamy claims that MUDA canceled the IHR in the November 2015 order, which technically canceled the IHR of Devaraju’s ownership. Thus, Devaraju is not the real owner of the land sold to Mallikarjuna.

Questions arising in the case

1. When Devraj is not the owner of the land then how can he sell the land to Mallikarjuna?
2. Did Mallikarjuna deliberately try to gift the land to Siddaramaiah’s wife because he has the political influence to transfer the litigation land to her?
3. When MUDA had canceled the IHR, the original owner of the land should have got an alternative site or compensation, then why did Siddaramaiah’s wife Parvati get it?

What is this whole matter?

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has been facing serious allegations of irregularities in the allotment of MUDA land. Siddaramaiah is facing allegations of allotting MUDA land to his wife Parvati. The Governor has sought a report from the government on MUDA. At the same time, BJP is demanding resignation of Siddaramaiah and handing over the case to CBI. However, Siddaramaiah rejects these allegations.

In a press conference in Bengaluru, he had told how his wife Parvati got this land. Siddaramaiah had told that 3.16 acres of land in Kesaru village of Mysore taluk was purchased by his brother-in-law Mallikarjuna Swamy. He told that the opposition alleges that this land comes under PTCL Act, which is wrong. This land was purchased by Ninga and Javra in an auction, which became self-acquired property in 1935.

According to Siddaramaiah, since this is a self-acquired property and Ninga was in possession of it since 1935, the land came to Ninga’s third son Devaraju and he became the owner of the property. Devaraju had full right to sell the land. His brother-in-law Mallikarjun bought this land from Devaraju. This is not a crime. This land was acquired by MUDA. Its first notification was issued in 1992 and last notification in 1997.

He told that in 1996, Devaraju requested the Urban Development Minister regarding this. Then there was a committee to investigate the acquisition and denotification of land.

According to Siddaramaiah, in 2004 Devaraju sold this land to his brother-in-law Mallikarjuna. In 2010, Mallikarjun gifted this land to his wife Parvati.

Siddaramaiah claims that meanwhile MUDA made plots here without informing the land owner. For this, MUDA did not even take the consent of the land owners. When his wife Parvati came to know about this, she gave an application to MUDA in 2014 demanding alternative land, because MUDA had taken her land illegally.
