Bhadohi: Constable pretending to be SOG collected Rs 2.30 lakh from businessman, ordered money on Google Pay, arrested

Police has arrested a head constable in Bhadohi, UP. It is alleged that he extorted around Rs 2.5 lakh from a businessman by threatening him. He had taken this amount online through Google Pay. At present, a case has been registered against the accused under various sections and he has been sent to jail. This incident created a stir in the department. Because, recently, action was taken against dozens of policemen in Ballia due to recovery from trucks.

According to the information received, Head Constable Surendra Pratap had caught a person and threatened to send him to jail. Then a bribe was demanded in exchange for leaving. Recovered Rs 2.30 lakh from that person by threatening him. After complaining about the matter, the officer ordered an investigation. The investigation found the matter prima facie correct.

Constable Surendra Pratap was posted at Suriawan police station in Bhadohi district. On April 25, he caught Girish, a resident of Mainpuri, near Varanasi Railway Station and threatened to send him to jail in serious cases. Then by threatening him he recovered Rs 2 lakh 30 lakh from the Google Pay account of one of his acquaintances.

The wife of victim Girish complained about this entire matter on IGRS. An investigation was conducted on the complaint and when the case was found to be true, a case was registered against the accused head constable Surendra Pratap under section 420 and other sections and he was arrested. It is being told that departmental action will also be taken against the constable.

If sources are to be believed, the accused head constable (constable) along with some of his colleagues had picked up the victim Girish. He introduced himself as an SOG officer. Then threatened to implicate Girish in a false case. A huge amount was charged in return for leaving. Initially the local police officers kept the matter under wraps, but when a complaint was lodged by the victim on the Chief Minister portal, an investigation was conducted.
