However, till now Delhi has received 1 percent more rainfall this month than the normal rainfall.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), 203 mm rainfall has been recorded in the national capital between July 1 and 30. Last year, 384 mm rainfall was recorded during the entire month of July. The rainfall in July 2023 was 83 percent more than normal rainfall. Let us tell you that Delhi had to face the worst situation like flood due to heavy rains in July last year.

However, there is still one day left in July and IMD has issued an alert of heavy rain in Delhi today (July 31). The weather office has predicted light to moderate rain for Wednesday also and there is an alert of heavy rain in many areas here. The Meteorological Department has issued an ‘Orange’ alert, which indicates a situation of “stay alert”. Apart from Delhi, there is an alert of heavy rain in its surrounding areas today. There are chances of heavy rain in Noida today. There will be heavy rain in Ghaziabad today and tomorrow (31 July-1 August). However, there is no possibility of much rain in Gurugram, Haryana.

Rain in June broke the record of 88 years

According to weather officials, this year monsoon reached Delhi on June 28. On the very first day, the city recorded 228 mm rainfall in 24 hours, which was the highest rainfall in a single day in June in 88 years. The national capital came to a standstill due to heavy rains, roads were flooded and flights were canceled after the roof collapsed in the parking lot of Terminal 1 of the international airport.

This time Delhi is facing severe humidity

According to IMD data, 17 rainy days were recorded in July, which is less than 19 in both 2023 and 2022 and 18 in 2021. Experts say that Delhi usually receives about 650 mm of rain during the monsoon season. Delhi is also facing severe humidity this month, despite there being no heat wave on any day. The average maximum temperature this month has been 35.8 degrees Celsius.
