Two days after the body of a 20-year-old girl was found near Uran railway station in Navi Mumbai, police have arrested the accused from Karnataka. The accused has been identified as Dawood Shaikh. Based on the complaint of the father of the deceased girl, the police had registered a case against the accused.

Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Deepak Sakore said that the accused Dawood Shaikh has been arrested from Shahpur area of ​​Gulbarga in the neighboring state of Karnataka. The victim and the accused were already in contact with each other. They had met on the day of the murder. During this time there was a fight between the two.

He said that the exact motive behind the crime is not yet known. The accused will be interrogated in police custody. The girl’s body was found at around 2 am on Saturday. Before that, his parents had filed his missing report on July 25.

After the girl’s body was found, the police registered a case under section 103 of the Indian Justice Code (BNS). After this, a police team was formed to search for the accused. Police investigation revealed that the victim used to work in Belapur. He had taken half day from office.

The police had initially detained several suspects. Due to the information received after interrogating him, the police was able to reach the accused. He had killed the victim by stabbing her with a knife. This has been confirmed by the post mortem report. The accused has made many revelations during the initial interrogation.

The accused told that after committing the crime he had stayed in Uran for some time. But after the victim’s father filed a case against him, he went to Karnataka. He used to work as a driver. Had already come in contact with the victim. The accused has confessed to his crime.

The police officer said that the mobile phone of the deceased girl has not been recovered yet. Efforts are being made to trace him. Efforts are being made to bring the accused from Karnataka to Mumbai on transit remand, so that he can be interrogated further and a charge sheet can be filed in the case.
