A shocking incident has come to light in Pakistan in which more than Rs 5 lakh was found in the pocket of a beggar. The elderly beggar was lying on the road in an unconscious state and during the rescue, money was found in his pocket while being taken to the hospital.
According to a report by Pakistan’s news channel Geo TV, the beggar was lying unconscious on Khushab Road in Sargodha district of Punjab province. The rescue team that took the old man to the hospital said that Rs 5 lakh 34 thousand were recovered from him.
The beggar has gone to Saudi Arabia many times
A passport was also found from the beggar which showed that he had been to Saudi Arabia several times. It is being speculated that the old man used to go to Saudi Arabia and beg.
The local official said, ‘An unknown call came after which the rescue team reached to help the elderly person. The people living there told the team that the person begs in the same area.
Rescue officials said that the old man was taken to the hospital and when he recovered, all his money and belongings were returned to him on the way home.
Pakistanis are begging by going to Saudi on Umrah visa
In September last year, there were reports that Pakistani citizens were going to Saudi Arabia on Umrah visa and begging.
The Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development told the Senate Committee on Overseas Pakistanis that a large number of beggars are going abroad through human trafficking channels.
The ministry told the Senate committee that 90% of the beggars arrested abroad are Pakistanis.
The secretary of the ministry said, ‘The ambassadors of Iraq and Saudi Arabia have told that such arrests have led to overcrowding in their jails. Most of the pickpockets caught outside Masjid Al Haram in Saudi Arabia are of Pakistani origin. These people reach Saudi on Umrah visa to beg.
