The world’s largest telescope is being built on a mountain in Chile to search for aliens in space. A very big dome is being built for this telescope. It will be operated by the European Southern Observatory (ESO). The name of this telescope is Extremely Large Telescope (ELT).

This telescope is being built on the Cerro Armajones mountain located in the Atacama Desert of Chile. It is expected that this telescope will start its work for the first time after four years i.e. in 2028. At present, the protective cover over the dome is being installed. Also, support is being installed for the primary mirror.

This telescope will search for other planets and alien worlds

From where the part will open and close, the telescope will monitor in space. He will discover planets from other worlds. Will help in the study of the solar system. Will also discover ancient galaxies. Which were formed before or after the Big Bang. Beams have been made for sliding doors. This dome will protect the telescope from the heat and dust of the desert.

The primary mirror is 128 feet wide and weighs 200 tons.

The primary mirror (M1) of ELT will be 128 feet wide. Its weight will be around 200 tonnes. To set the telescope, big cranes and vehicles are installed inside the dome. These pictures show how huge this telescope will be. 798 hexagonal glasses have been added to form the primary mirror.

Five different mirrors will be installed in this telescope

This is the world’s largest segmented mirror, which is being made for a telescope. There will be a total of five mirrors in ELT. Everyone will be of different sizes. Everyone will have a different size. Everyone will have different work. So that they can investigate the space very well.
