Woman Smuggler Arrested: In Thane district of Maharashtra, police arrested a female smuggler involved in drug trade. Police have recovered hashish worth lakhs of rupees from his possession. The police took this action on the basis of an intelligence report. Now the police is taking the accused woman on remand and interrogating her.
Giving information about this matter, a senior police officer of Thane Police told PTI that a team of Shanti Nagar police station of Bhiwandi had received a secret information about women smuggling and drug trade. The police took this matter seriously and planned a raid on the basis of that intelligence.
As per the plan, the police team reached Nizampura area of Bhiwandi and raided the hideout of the woman present in Kasaiwada there. The woman present at the spot was taken into custody by the police. And when a search was conducted there, more than two kilos of hashish was recovered from the woman’s possession.
The police officer said that the price of charas recovered from the woman’s possession is Rs 21 lakh in the market. On the basis of this recovery, action was taken against the 39-year-old woman on Monday. And an FIR was registered against him under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Senior Inspector of Shanti Nagar police station, Vinayak Gaikwad, produced the accused woman before the local magistrate, from where she has been sent to police custody for four days. Preliminary interrogation and investigation of the accused woman revealed that the woman had purchased banned drugs from Uttar Pradesh.
