In Fazilka district of Punjab, a newly married woman, troubled by the taunts of her dark complexion, committed suicide by jumping into a canal. Police reached the spot, took possession of the body and sent it for post-mortem. The deceased was married only three months ago. It is alleged that her in-laws used to taunt her for being dark-skinned. Didn’t even eat food cooked by him.
According to the information, 25-year-old Nirmal Kaur was married to Dildeep, a resident of Moga, about three months ago. But Nirmal Kaur’s husband and in-laws often taunted her about her dark complexion. Due to this she started feeling stressed. The father and brother of the deceased told that on Sunday, Nirmal Kaur’s brother-in-law and brother-in-law had left her outside the house at her maternal home.

Husband often talked to another girl on phone
Troubled by this, he jumped into the canal passing through Kerakheda village on Monday night, after which a search was going on for him. But, his body was found in the Kala Tibba canal at 5 am on Tuesday. The relatives of the deceased told the police that their daughter had told them that her husband often talked to another girl on the phone.
Demand for strict action against in-laws
He has demanded strict action from the police administration against the husband and in-laws of the deceased. Because of which his daughter lost her life. He says that if he did not want to settle down with her because she was black, then why did he marry her at all. At the same time, the police say that action is being taken against the in-laws of the deceased based on the statements of his relatives.
