Season 3 of the series ‘Mirzapur’ has been in the news since its release. Fans have been loving this story of power, revenge and crime for years. Actors Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Shweta Tripathi, Rasika Duggal and Anjum Sharma have played important roles in it. In the new season of the show, the audience got an in-depth look into the world of Mirzapur and the lives of the characters. However, ‘Mirzapur 3’ did not get the reaction as expected. Now the show’s co-director Anand Iyer has talked about this.

Anand Iyer directed some episodes of season 3 of ‘Mirzapur’. During a conversation with India Today/Aaj Tak, Anand expressed his views on the mixed reviews of ‘Mirzapur 3’, actor Divyendu Sharma’s character Munna Bhaiya not being in the show and what impact it will have on Season 4.

The show got mixed reviews

Regarding mixed reviews, Anand Iyer said, ‘Like every show, our show has received mixed reactions. A lot of people like the way this story is going. Then there are some hardcore fans too, who are expressing themselves emotionally. So the reaction is mostly about the characters, not about the show. But during this time people are also talking about season 4. So in this way you can see that somewhere the love for the show is still there in people’s minds.

Did things get worse due to Munna Bhaiya’s departure?

Anand was asked that fans missed Munna Bhaiya in this season of ‘Mirzapur’. Many users had also shared posts regarding this on social media. In such a situation, how do you do justice to the script keeping in mind these expectations of the audience? The director replied, ‘This has always been a line. You can entertain everyone, but like life, things happen in shows too. This is very unexpected. No one knows what is going to happen. Similarly, in a show too, characters come and characters go. This is all about Mirzapur, not about any one character. So like people say that the show should always go on and there are many twists and turns and new plots coming in it.

He further said, ‘What I like about this show is that women have been given importance in it. This is great because women are strong. He is amazing and a strong part of the show. I take inspiration from my mother, she is a very strong woman and my wife has won the battle with cancer twice. It is time that we also get our share. This thing has been done very beautifully this season.

Is directing the show challenging?

During the interview, Ananth Iyer told whether directing a few episodes of a show instead of directing an entire show is a challenge or not. He said, ‘I am surprised that you called it challenging, because to be honest, I never took it as a challenge. I became a new person, part of such an elite team. And Gurmeet has also been the director of the last two seasons. So he’s the showrunner. So whatever happens, we discuss. Actors who understand their characters better are also talked to. This is a very important thing that we do before shooting the scenes that we talk a lot about the characters who have been in the show since Season 1.

Update on season 4

Anand Iyer also gave an update regarding Season 4 during this conversation. He said, ‘Only time will tell as to the response we are getting at the moment. People have forgotten that season 3 took time to arrive because Covid was going on. But with all the love we have received, we are preparing for the new season.
