Polling for essential service workers and duty personnel in the twin constituency of Xiaoping district ended today with a total of 903 votes cast.

Of the 1,317 voters who applied to vote at these polling centres (FCs), 903 voters turned up for the polls, accounting for 68.06 per cent of the voter turnout in the district.

The staff conducted voting at the Voter Facilitation Centres/Postal Voting Centres set up for the two ACs of Shopian and Zainapora.

The district election officials made special arrangements for the workers, including polling parties, media, drivers and conductors, essential service personnel of PHE, health, MC police, fire and emergency departments, among others.

In Shoping AC, 717 ballots were cast, of which 488 voted, giving a turnout of 68.06 per cent, while in Zainapora AC, 600 ballots were cast, of which 415 voted, giving a turnout of 69.16 per cent.
