Palghar Police of Maharashtra has arrested a man, who married and cheated more or less 20 women across the country. Here a woman from Nalla Sopara had complained, after which the police arrested the person. He has been identified as Firoz Niaz Shaikh, who used to befriend widowed women online and cheat them by marrying them.
Palghar police had arrested Firoz Shaikh on 23 July. The woman from Nalla Sopara alleged that Firoz had befriended her on a matrimonial site and later married her. In her complaint, the woman had alleged that between October and November 2023, she gave Rs 6.5 lakh to Firoz and gave him valuables but she had no idea that she was being cheated.

Police seized laptops, mobiles and much more
Palghar Police Senior Inspector Vijay Singh Bhagal confirmed that an FIR has been registered under sections of the IPC in connection with the matter. Police have seized several items from Sheikh, including a laptop, mobile phone, debit and credit cards, checkbooks and jewellery, which Firoz is believed to have acquired fraudulently.
Had done 20 marriages across the country
When the police started investigation on the complaint of the woman, it came to light that Firoz Shaikh had done not one, not two but 20 marriages. He has married in many other states including Maharashtra, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat and has allegedly cheated many women.

The man has been cheating women since 2015
According to the police, Firoz earlier used to befriend especially widow women on matrimonial sites. His faith prevailed and he got married. After this he used to cheat them, take money from them and get valuable things. He was doing this kind of fraud since 2015. However, now the police has arrested him and sent him behind bars.
