7 people arrested for breaking into CSIR NET exam, used to hack computers through remote access

The Meerut unit of the Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh has arrested 7 people who used to take huge amount of money from the candidates and crack the CSIR NET online examination and get them passed. CSIR NET online examination was being conducted by NSEIT.

Those arrested by STF include 4 candidates. The accused used to break into the online examination by hacking the computer system through remote access. After these arrests, the STF team has started searching for other people from the gang.

NSEIT server operator also arrested

The accused who have been arrested include Subharti University’s IT Manager Arun Sharma, Computer Lab Assistant Vineet Kumar, NSEIT Server Operator Ankur Saini and 4 candidates – Ankit, Tamanna, Monica and Jyoti.

Actually, on the basis of a confidential information, UPSTF had conducted a search campaign by STF in NET Examination Center, Subharti University, Meerut. During the search, an extra admin computer was found through local area network from the server room of the examination lab and two laptops were found in the server room in which Any Desk remote access tool was seen. Apart from this, an employee has found a mobile phone for conducting the exam.

Names, roll numbers of four candidates and IP address of their system have been found in the mobile. This IP was shared with a person outside the center through which the screen of these candidates was shared. Their question papers were being solved by solvers from outside. In the CSIR-NET exam held on June 25 in the first and second shifts, names of 11 candidates have been found from the deleted file of the mobile.

National Testing Agency (NTA) had invited applications for CSIR UGC-NET from June 1, whose exam was to be held on June 25, 26 and 27. Amidst the NEET paper leak controversy, NTA had postponed the CSIR UGC-NET exam in view of the transparency and integrity of this exam. On June 28, NTA had released the new date of the exam through an official notice.

According to the notice, CSIR UGC-NET exam is now being held on 25, 26 and 27 July. According to the re-exam schedule, the examination of Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean, Planetary Sciences and Physical Sciences was held on July 25. Mathematical Sciences exam was held on 26th July. Life Sciences and Chemical Sciences exams will be held on 27th July. The exam will be of 3 hours from 9-12 in the morning.
