A 51-year-old man committed suicide in a hotel in Nagpur, Maharashtra after losing Rs 60 lakh in cyber fraud. Police said that the man was found unconscious in a hotel located in Ganeshpeth area.

A 51-year-old man committed suicide in a hotel after losing Rs 60 lakh to cyber fraud, police said on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Akshay Bahekar, who worked as a pharmacist at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, who was found unconscious in Hotel Rajdhani in Ganeshpeth area two days ago.

According to the hotel staff, he came to the hotel on the evening of September 3, but after that he did not come out of the room. Meanwhile, an officer of Ganeshpeth police station said that when there was no activity inside, the hotel management opened the room with the master key on Thursday, and he was found unconscious. After this, he was taken to the hospital, but he was declared dead before reaching the hospital.

‘The matter is under investigation’

The suicide note found in the room revealed that he had lost Rs 60 lakh to online fraudsters. The officer said that it is suspected that the deceased had consumed some poisonous substance. The matter is being further investigated. Also, the police team is trying to gather information about the fraud.
