Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu attended the Amaravati Drone Summit 2024 on Tuesday. Here, he shares his vision roadmap for the future of drone technology in Andhra Pradesh. Addressing innovators, drone manufacturers and experts alike, the CM explained how these innovations will accelerate the state’s development and keep Andhra Pradesh at the forefront of technology-driven development.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu recalled his leadership experience in the 1990s and talked about the early stages of India’s IT revolution. He recalled the country’s first IT project, Hi-Tech City, launched in 1995 through public-private partnership (PPP), which transformed Hyderabad into a technology hub. He recalled his efforts to bring global technology giants such as Microsoft to India by leveraging India’s strengths in English and mathematics. He also mentioned that Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee finally accepted his proposal to deregulate the telecom industry, opening the door for Indian mobile technology.
In his speech, Chief Minister Naidu also praised the current leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “We are fortunate to have a dynamic Prime Minister Narendra Modi, under whose leadership India is expected to become the world’s third largest economy by 2047,” he said.
He expressed his belief that as long as everyone works together, our country will be able to become the world’s number one economy. He also praised initiatives such as JAM (Jan Dhan, Aadhaar, Mobile) and Ayushman Bharat led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which have helped strengthen India’s digital infrastructure.
Talking about the current developments, Chandrababu Naidu emphasized that Andhra Pradesh has always embraced technology. “Andhra Pradesh has always been at the forefront in adopting cutting-edge technology to solve challenges,” he said, citing the recent use of drones during the Vijayawada floods, where drones were deployed to deliver goods to the affected areas Food and water. “Drones can solve urban transportation problems, improve agricultural processes and revolutionize healthcare,” he said.
During the program, he made several important statements regarding his vision for the future of Andhra Pradesh. He revealed plans to make Andhra Pradesh a global hub for drone technology. He announced the allocation of 300 acres of land at Orvakallu in Coonoor district for developing a drone center and said: “Amaravati will become the drone capital of India and Andhra Pradesh will become A leader in drone technology. The initiative aims to promote drone manufacturing, innovation and research. “
He also announced a plan to train 35,000 drone pilots in Andhra Pradesh, thereby making the state a human resource hub for drone technology. He said this would create a skilled workforce capable of meeting the growing demand for drones across industries. He also promised that the state government will issue a comprehensive drone policy within 15 days to establish a conducive business environment for drone manufacturers and innovators.
Further, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu Garu invited all stakeholders to use Andhra Pradesh as a pilot testing ground for their drone projects. He said the pilot projects will help test the effectiveness of the drones and, if successful, will be rolled out across the state and replicated nationwide.
